I'm going to answer this question with my own personal facts:

1. I'm paying a LOT of money just to put gas in my car.
2. I'm spending LESS money.
3. Been a LOOOONG time since I, or hubby got a raise.
4. What tax breaks? I didn't get any? Who got them?
5. I, a teacher with two kids and a hubby in school full-time, am PAYING taxes, NOT getting a refund.
6. I've made NO major purchases in approximately eight years.
7. I've not been on vacation in approximately eight years because I can't afford a vacation...I even teach summer school.
8. My husband (RET. CAPT. USAR.) keeps getting letters about getting back into the ARMY to go to Iraq.
9. Family is broke most of the time.
10. We run a small business that is constantly on the "brink".
11. Hubby's had to go back to school because he lost his job.
12. We do not believe our economy is doing better! How could it be? Really think back ten years ago...does this feel better than ten years ago? Not to me.

So, to a pretty normal person like myself...who is NOT a democrat... I say yes...I was doing much better ten years ago.

We were better off WHEN Clinton was in office, but NOT BECAUSE Clinton was in office. One of the first things you learn in logic is that correlation does not prove causation.

Clinton's claim to fame was that he governed based on polls. Whatever people seemed to want at the time, Clinton put into effect. This had the temporary effect of making people happy at the moment. However, the direct result of these policies was that when he left office, this country was on the brink of a lot of bad things. He handed Bush an economy headed toward recession. If not for the tax cuts (especially the capital gains tax) then this country might have really hit a devestating recession. In addition, Clinton has handed off a foreign policy of never responding to terrorist activites. You can see the result of that!

It seemed better because the media told you it was better. Unemployment is lower now than when Clinton was in office, inflation is stable, housing starts have been up, the deficit is down....The media has fed you a bunch of bullsh*t and you have gobbled it right up.

Not saying that GW is a saint, mind you. But the media paints men according to their doctrine.

Also, 9/11 had not happened when Clinton was in office. Having been struck on our own soil has made us hyper aware of the bad guys.

regardless of the very incontrovertible actuality that none got here about in the U. S., throughout the time of bill Clinton we've extra terrorist assaults directed in the route of us then ever. The attack on 9-11 got here about 9 months after Bush took workplace, notwithstanding the plans were on going lengthy earlier that. Clinton had the prospect to seize Bin encumbered, yet did not. So searching at that, I consider you.

When Clinton was in office......the News Media was so busy trying to keep track of his love life and the First Lady's happenings, that they did not have time to focus on the world around us and what was going on outside of the White House.

Clinton Hell...the US was a much better place when we had Jimmy Carter or even Nixon as President.

Dumbyah is a total disaster.

You Republicans should grow some balls, admit you made a mistake with this loser and find a better candidate for 2008. You can and must do better.

Because it was.

If you'll look at the link from Forbes (hardly a liberal source) the country WAS in much better shape during the Clinton years.

Ah...Budget surplusses, lowest unemployment in recorded history, the second highest number of jobs created during a president's term...

Apparently poorly executed wars, a shrinking middle class, expanding poverty, and waning freedoms is the Republican ideal.

because you had your head in the sand believing Clinton was doing something good for the country

I don't believe we're better off with a Democrat or a Republican in office...I want to see someone who can run the country like a buisness and scrap all this backscratching and pork barreling

Because the Nation was in a much better condition pre-2001. I think we'd be better off with someone who can provide agile leadership in office regardless of political party.
