Wow everyone here are so discriminating. Women's Studies is the history of women's progession through history. Women's Sufferage, Women's Civil Rights, and so forth. Women's Studies teach the hardships they endured in getting equal rights, and equal rights meaning getting the same rights as men. There are no Men's Studies because Men's Studies is just history.

Look at the history/science/math books in all the rest of your university classes...
How many women are portrayed in those books compared to men- very few I imagine.
Ever heard of
Alice Paul?
Elizabeth Cady Stanton?
Theano?
Williamina Fleming?
Maria Mayer?
Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin?
Just a few examples of prominent women activists, scientists and mathematicians none of whom are in the history books.
Men wrote history and left women out, so appropriate changes are being made.
I realize you are being sarcastic, but the mere fact you proposed women's studies are about mascara and lip gloss reflects the need for them.

good question. womens studies i think mean POLITICAL women's studies as in thing like womens rights and women's sufferage, unfortunately some people mistake it as literally "studying women", pay no attention to the fact that it is in social SCIENCE and post sexually related questions on here that belong in the health section. and there is no mens studies because there is no need for a men's rights section as they have had it scince the early civilizations and are history. oh and if this were about makeup, it would belong in the beauty and style category, which i think is use less anyway.

Don't worry, boys. Women's Studies classes will disappear as soon as the history taught in them is taught in regular history classes, which at this point in time should really be called White Men's Studies.

Men's studies are history. They're already written up in history books and taught in schools.

Women's studies relates to an accounting of women's contributions to society that didn't make it into the male-dominated history books. It also goes through the evolution in women's struggles in society for their survival and independence.

A good class for all.

Womens studies are basically another way women can complain about how much they hate men. There are no men studies because it would not be politically correct. So basically they are just another waste of time, energy, and money

It is feminized american history that tells about the oppression of women by white anglo-saxon males and the suffering of sufferagettes and how back in ancient times women ruled and men were their lap dogs and that women of the women's movement want it that way again. The girls that really believe that stuff dont use mascarra, lipstick, or nail polish. They don't even shave thier legs. They should.
