I started my kids on soft foods at 4 months
your doing fine if baby wants to get than feed her. just make sure she is not having problems going booboo and her little belly is not hard all the time. if she start throwing up her food like right after eating then she is getting to much ,so cut back. you and even bring in some baby food alittle at a time. around 6-8 months i put food in blender and made my own baby food for mine the love bananans and strawberries your doing just fine. even if she does gain alittle weight she will work it off ,and you too when she learns how to walk you be chasing her all over.

I doubt she will gain too much weight-at that age, if she is eating, she is probably hungry. Just to be sure I would check with the doctor, however, my son was on cereal with a spoon at 3 months and my daughter just started at 7 months. Both of them are fine and putting weight on at a normal rate.

Rice cereal is a good start for a hungry child.
If you watch her intake, suppliment some water and 1/2 water, 1/2 apple juice, she'll do great. Just keep an eye on her diaper, and make sure she is "passing" without straining or too runny.
Don't let her go around with a bottle all the time.
Besides, when babies get ready to grow, they put on weight, and then you will notice they have slimmed up, almost over night.

I agree that you should talk to the pediatrician, but I would imagine 4 months is old enough to take the rice. We used to put a little rice in with the formula for our son and he did well with it. He also gained a lot of weight from about 3 months to a year, but now he's stretching out and is perfectly perportional.

Talk to a pediatrician.
My one daughter was over 10 pounds at birth and she was on rice mixed with mother's milk within the first month. My second daughter was 6 months old before having cereal. Same pediatrician advised for both.

well I'm no expert
but i do know what ur talking about
if ur daughter is one of those who eat a lot and isnt very active, you have to be careful with what you feed her beacuse she'd be getting more calories than she needs and not using any of it
so make little changes
give her granola bars
if she asks for a snack, give her an apple (or any other fruit)
whenever she's thirsty, give her water.
water is the key for everything!!
(it's also the true thirst quencher)
if she doesnt have a sugared drink then there's room for more calories.
another thing you should do is to encourage her to be more active if she already isnt
take a walk or run
play a sport
or even just play catch
any little thing helps

No, it's not okay. It can do permanent harm to the baby, including increasing her risks of allergy and asthma. And "she's just fine" is *not* a reasonable explanation, as the damage may only show up 10 years from now...or even 50!!
A baby is absolutely *not* ready for solids before she is 6 months old. There are no exceptions for "big babies" "hungry babies" "mature babies" or anything else.

My kids both started eating cereal before 4 months. Just make sure you take her for your regular check-ups to be sure she is not gaining too much weight. She sounds healthy to me though.

It's okay I did the same thing when my daughter was 3 months. As long as you are putting it in her bottle and not feeding her with a spoon she will be fine. You don't have to put it in every bottle. Just lunch time and before bed. Congratulations!
