They may not know it, but yeah, girls like me may want to go out with them!! All the guys think I always go out with the jocks and preps, but, I want a guy with brains. Or a skater boy. I just want to break away from my stereotype. You all should too.

OK you should know the answer to this question , anyone should know the answer to this question .
Why you may ask , the main reason is that society of the time comes down on these people with abuse of all sorts and qick jibes at the nerds expence , this happens because this person has grown up with this stigma that he / she is a nerd , so therefore they begin to belive that this must be true . so to get away from this sort of thing the nerd comes up with a way of dealing with this in many ways mostly by hidding themselfs away in plain sight , yes i mean in plain sight the places where lots of people go but take no notice of the nerd , so over time this person grows up with this on there mind everyday of there life if not every minute of it but most of there life . once branded a nerd it is very difficult to reinstate yourself as one of the crowd , AND IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM WAFFELING ON ABOUT THEN YOU ARE PART OF THAT CROWD. if people constantly haras you and make fun of you!!!! you develope a sence of worthlessness and therefore develope yourself in othereways to make you happy .and this can last all your life but in a few cases people grow out of this ( with the help of friends that care and give you self-confidence to grow .BUT I COULD RIGHT A WHOLE NOVEL HERE SO I WILL QUIT NOW .but you should have the idea as to the answer to your question . people only grow with the right ingredients , take away some key ingredients they will still grow but not to there full potental.

Nerds have low self-confidence because no 1 helps them or be nice to them they are all so mean 2 them and dont treat them well i am not one but i have been 1 so i know wat it is like 2 be one sad all the time sacred 2 go 2 school they dont try to be better thats why they have such low confidence!

nerds, geeks, dorks- whatever you want to label people as- typically get **** on by the popular crowd. Lets look at America's priorities: who makes more money- a doctor, or an illiterate millionaire who went to college for free (and had his papers written for him) because he can throw/catch a ball?
There is justice though, of a sort- when joe the idiot racist jock quarterback knocks up the cheerleading bimbo but later blows out his knee his wife ends up dating the now-rich former geek that represents her in the divorce proceedings

Nerds have low self esteem because their constantly being told they're not accepted by society. This is so because by definition they don't have by comparison, a lot of social skills. If you want to date some, you're going to have to put up with these quirks or entice them to gain social skills. What they lack in one area they make up for in others, so its a trade off. When they learn social skills they will lose some of their incentive to focus on other skills.

First of all, all nerds do not lack or have low self-confidence. They might not possess the social skills needed to successfully interact with the opposite sex, but it is not low self-confidence.
