I have a couple of questions to ask people IN GENERAL. No, I'm NOT a racist, to begin with. First off, why do OTHER RACES that DATE BLACKS always think BLACK girls are hating on them? I mean seriously. It pisses me off always being labeled as A HATER just because you guys happen to be AN INTERRACIAL COUPLE & I HAPPEN TO LOOK YOUR DIRECTION. gees, and when i look at interracial couples i'm proud NOT JEALOUS. White girls seem to give the look like "i got what you want" when they're with a black guy. seriously, what's up with that? What's up with all the brothers always telling blacks "i only date white girls" like it's supposed to hurt us. Why do people when they start dating black guys all of sudden ACT BLACK. opposites can attract. You don't have to change yourself to date someone.

I am white and I agree. I don't care who you date. You have to live with that person (no matter what race). I look at all kinds of people....Just bec I look at you doesn't mean anything. Maybe I am look at the shirt you have on and not you. And I also agree with you other comment, why would someone want to date, say a white person that acts black, or a white person that acts Asian. Be proud of you heritage no matter what it is.

The perception that you have is part of the racial problem, dear. You may not know it but how do you know 100% that is what the others are thinking., regardless of their races? A few of this people do not represent the entire spectrum of the color. Yes, there are a few people who do that and that pigeon-holed them into a narrow world, including those that date only a specific group of racial characteristics. Up in the North eastern part of this country, I was used to white people.at my husband and I. What disconcerted me when I moved to the South is that I perceived black people ALSO staring at me. Now, years later, I realized that it was perception, not the actual truth . At which point I no longer cared and didn't see it anymore. Neither should you care.

I hear u gril...Because I could really care less wheather a black guy that walks by me is with a white or black girl...I got my man and If he were to cheat on me wheather it be a white black asian or hispanic girl I would be just as mad so Interracial dating does not bother me....My man is Haitian but I happen to like Italian guys (some the darker ones) and have noticed that they like black women ( a whole lot) It makes no difference to me if ur attractive ur attractive no matter what color...

You know, I used to be looked down upon when I married my husband. My Russian family originally immigrated to Mexico, then settled in East L.A. I used to be accused of being more Mexican, than my husband.

He grew up here in Whittier, (sometimes called White-ier). Being mainly a suburb kid, his Spanish is still made fun of as surfer spanish.
(ex. K paa-sa, dude?) We were not acting as someone we weren't , it was just a result of the neighborhoods we grew up in.

You are being a bit of a hater. 25 years ago, our marriage was still taboo. We got it from both sides. The stares, the rude comments, and people who could not understand we were who were were. No playing, no pretending.

You right you don't have to change yourself to date someone, but YOU don't have to assume what a person is doing is an act.

There are nice people in all races and there are people who are not nice in all races.

While I can understand an interracial attraction, I would discourage anyone from an interracial marriage. It is another stress on the marriage. My personal preference is for the family look..

2 Blond parents, one Male and one Female.
With Children who look like both parents.

2 Redhead parents, one Male and one Female,
And the children they produce.

2 Italian American Parents, one Male and one Female.
See how the children resemble them.

2 Black Parents, one Male and one Female.
With their children who look like them.

I don't think i need to belabour this any further, Chinese, Greek, French, German, Jewish, and all of the other Ethnicitys.

Now when everyone gets together with their extended family. You can see the subtle differences and similarities. Everyone looks like they belong. There is a strong sense of Being part of, included in descended from, and understood because of a common background. The foods and sights and smells of Holidays bring back memories of childhood to everyone and the newest generation of children make the memories which will last them a life time.

I would also like my whole family to be one in religious beliefs. For me it's Catholic. When someone is getting married we find out what church they will be married in and what time the mass starts. We have the same holidays and have this additional support and comfort knowing that we are understood and understand other members of the extended family.

For benefit of clarity I'll use extremes. Let's say a white blond Irish Women, Interracial marriage with an unquestionably black Man. The adults accept differences pretty well because it was their choice. I mean it's part of the package. The along come the children. Now go back to the family gatherings. Do they feel like they belong with the White Family Gatherings?
Do they feel like they fit with the Black Family Gatherings?
Do they have white skin and black features.
Do they have kinky hair and their sister's hair is straight.
Does White Blond hair mom understand how to take care of her daughter's kinky hair.
Do the siblings resent one another because of racial traits that showed up differently.

I am sure there are some new traditions which can be adapted. How about Corned Beef, Cabbage and Black Eyed Peas? for St Patty's Day.

I think it takes a great deal of work to make children of mixed marriages feel comfortable and That's fine, if you realise it and know what you are agreeing to.

The Children however did not choose to feel like an outsider in their own family. If everyone mixes around it won't be an issue forever. However I like the differences. I like to see Mom and Dad and Children looking like a Set that goes together.

With that said. It is better a Great relationship even though it's interracial than an abusive marriage on the way to divorce. But you can look for the Great Relationship That is not interracial.

The more things a couple has in common before marriage the better. Getting married and raising children is hard enough as it is. The same Religion, Race and Culture is a good place to start.

God Bless You, ;-)

I totally agree....why would someone change the way they act in order to date that certain person....it's all about thinking themselvs as superior persons...and that is truly a sorry thing to look at...but anyway, let them be hating on themselves, who cares, live your life the way you like and don't mind others!!

I feel great about it! I really don't mind interracial dating. I think its beautiful when people can express their feelings and not bow to the status que placed on us by society. People forget the culture of america and so it seems, there isn't what they would describe a "problem" with this situation, They choose not to address it, well the "problem" is people being color blind, to the specifics of the word, BLIND TO THE COLORS AROUND YOU. They are unwilling to accept them and hence they are not there or you are blind to them. I don't believe in color blindness, its ignorance, it needs to change, be aware of the wonderous variety around you and accept it. I Think its extremly interesting to learn about other people's ways of life. I think its really sad that people of any race can simply 'dis' others becuase they are of any color.

it's another way to strip the black race of our identity and make us feel inferior. i recommend you read " It Ain't All Good; Why Black Men Shouldn't Date White Women". i forgot the name of the author, but the bookstore can find it for you. it should answer all your questions about this.
