I have a bedtime of 10 on school nights. But then on the weekends I can stay up as late as I want as long as I'm out of bed in the morning by 10:30am. My dad did this so I could learn a little respect I guess for myself. Making myself go to sleep so I'm not so tired on the weekends when I HAVE to get up. I don't know if this helped or made any sense. But that's what I do and it works.

Well I'm 14 and I don't have an exact "bedtime" but on school nights I go to seep at reasonable times because I'm usually tired but the end of a school day so yeah. However on a weekend or whatever, it doesn't really matter what time I go to sleep unless I have to go somewhere the next day. I could sleep until noon at almost anytime I go sleep anyway lol. So it may not matter, but start off with small increasements and whenever you feel like it you can change it around.

I am aloud to go to bed whatever time I want as long as I go to school normally as i would as if I went to bed at 6:30 as soon as I brake that rule my bedtime goes to a low time. It works very well. But after a while I was smart enough to figure out that I should probably go to bed around 8:00-9:00 so I can focus on my work at school. I think he will learn a lesson by doing this the same way I did.

I've never really had an enforced bedtime. I think that 11 sounds fair during the week, but on weekends he should stay up until he wants to.

11:00 sounds good to me. He does need his sleep to function properly at school. When I was 15 my bedtime was 10:00 but then I realized all of my favorite shows were on at 10:00 and 10:30 so my parents let me stay up until 11:00 on weekdays and as late as I want on weekends.
I think your idea is fair!

I read in an article that teenagers need to get a lot of sleep because they are growing and well there teenagers. I dont know of a teeneager who doesnt sleep in until atleast 10:30. But I agree with you on the 11 o'clock thing because he needs to be well rested for school. But my mom she doesnt give us a bedtime (She is a mother of 4) She says its your chocie for how tired you want to be in the morning. If you want to go to sleep at 3 am then go ahead but you are still getting up at 6 in the morning. We have all learned our lesson on that one. I think the latest you should go is midnight for bedtime. So good luck!

Staying up all night and sleeping until noon is just a teenage thing. I do that. All my friends do that. He'll grow out of it, but good luck changing it if that's what you're wanting.

As for durring the school year...I think you should just let him stay up as long as he wants, but tell him if his grades slip its back to like 10 or something. That's what my parents did to me.
