My daughter is 11 months old. She eats baby foods and mashed foods, also eats veggie puffs, arrowroot cookies, etc. but every time I try to give her a diced pear or peach, or dried fruits or anything that chunky she wont eat it. Any suggestions?

wait another month before you do table food...there is nothing wrong with eathing mashed foods (i would do it if i didn't have teeth or if I just had a tooth taken out)...you can still give your baby good nutrition with those baby foods...but I understand that you want your baby to begin practicing...just wait another month and then try again

Babies were not made to eat mush. When you fed her so-called "baby foods" instead of real food, you were teaching her that tasteless, unhealthy foods are preferably to the real thing. Now you are wondering why she believed you!!

Since she is still under a year old, you could try to eliminate all jarred mashed stuff from her diet. If she is hungry and refuses to eat food, just nurse her more. There is no *reason* she needs solids before her first birthday anyway, so just eliminate the unhealthy stuff and keep encouraging her to eat real food.

Give her a small pile of food for her to feed herself. A spoonful of grated raw carrot or apple or a bit of cooked brown rice is fine. Don't encourage her to eat--let her play with it if she prefers. Some will undoubtedly reach her mouth, and over time she will decide she likes at least *some* foods. Make sure that you are eating whatever she is eating--and *enjoying it*!! Don't offer her anything you don't like (pretending probably won't work!), and just eat and let her know--without pressure--how good it is.

Good luck!!

My little girl is 13 month and only just got the hang of regular food, she too would gag and choke and I became extremely paranoid. However one day I gave her some wotsits broke up into small prices and she ate them perfectly. Baby will do it wen ready, just keep trying to introduce new textures and keep a close eye for choking. I know how scary it is x

Wait. This too shall pass. Stop giving her the mashed up "baby food". Don't worry about it. she will eat it when she is ready. but more likely if she is not full of other things.

She isnt ready for that texture yet. It seems to take longer for them to eat the fruits. I started with bananna's with my 2 first. You might want to try that its softer and the texture is more like baby food.good luck

She has her preferences. As long as she's eating good nutritious food, don't force the issue. She'll come along when she's ready.

Just keep offering them. All kids are different, yours might take a little longer to warm up to new things. Don't stress about it.
