I think that if people say they are warring to maintain peace they are contradicting themselves. They are breaking the peace to do something they say is defending peace. What reason can someone possibly give that would justify the killing of men and women? In the end it is all for naught.

Well every so often the population outgrows what mankind can provide for and the people start getting stupid. Ironically they go to war and kill a few million off and the economy is better and the government thinks it's because they made the right choices.

Not that there is no a surplus of goods due to the lack of humans

It is hard to say ... people have been warring for generations, even in the same country (e.g. civil wars). I don't think wars are going to end because thousands of us go on a big peace march, nor do I think wars are started to create peace. As Thomas Malthus once said, war is one way of limiting population growth, next to famines and natural disasters.

At times.

The nature of man is evil. One of the aspects of evil is to maintain and control even at the cost of the people that are served. At times foceable measures have to be used to overthrow an evil regime or to defend ourselves from such.

This being said that reasoning tends to be used way too much by forces when it doesn't apply for evil to control. It gets real complicated I know; but, if thought about it really does make sense.

War cannot bring peace as is shown in Afghanistan and Iraq. Only compromises can bring peace.
