Why would anyone be surprised. The French have no experience in defending themselves.

France: Does anyone remember when we were a global power? No? Anybody? No, really...we were! We had a huge navy and Napoleon and everything! Still nothing, huh? Well then in that case, WAR IS BAD! You should all be ashamed of yourselves...especially if you are trying to defend your people and borders. Look at us, the Nazi regime steamrolled us and everything worked out fine in the end. uh huh. ww2 happened AFTER ww1 dude... you see how your country does when you have no men between the ages of 20 and 60 when you get attacked.
hey... MAYBE that's why poland and hungary fell too!! the united states only knows what it is like to fight herself, not an invading army. we booted out a tiny *** kingdom (england) and rested on our laurels until we got another shot at an island nation (cuba) that was misbehaving. probably because it took a generation before we had an army after the war of northern aggression.
and then we defeated japan! and germany, since it had already been at war with all of europe and russia. see a trend here? boy we're mighty!
