The Midwest has inexpensive homes, I live in Ohio and the prices aren't that bad if you're looking for something 20-40 years old. New houses or ones in enclosed developments will be more expensive.

Cheapest or Least Expensive?

One can pay much and get little and at times, pay little and get much.

Just cause you pay alot does not mean you got a good value. Same as Paying little, you can at times get more than what you paid for.
