sure you can but it has to be put in a certain kind of container. It can't just be put in any old thing. If is is one of the 200 gallon tanks you will have to get a service provider to delv to you. If you are just using a 20, 30 or 100 lb. tank you can take it and have it filled up. A lot of service stations fill them for you. Also if it is a tank for a gas grill you can take yours and swap it out for one of theirs that is alreay filled.

In Texas we use propane for heating & cooking, hotwater heaters to. All ya gotta do is bring your bottle in or call (if its a tank) they will deliver.

Go to your local Farmers Coop or U-Haul dealership or a place like it. They will fill your bottles for you. This way you can buy your own bottles at a place like Sam's Club and not have to do that bottle swapping crap at the local gas station.
