If we are all simply figments of your imagination, why would you ask us if we really exist? Do you really expect us to say "yes, it's all in your head"? Why does the universe have to revolve around you? Maybe your just a figment of someone elses imagination....It could be a family member, a friend, an enemy, or someone you dont even know. Maybe its one of the people who answered this question...maybe its even me, though I'm sure I'd remember imagining the entire universe.....
Good luck on your quest to find out if the world is real, and who is making it all up....Even though your maker would never allow you to find out.
And thats only if your serious.......I for one believe that God created this world...sure there are probably other dimensions...but this is the one we live in, its where we exist......So get used to it!

Sunnidaze has made a good philosophical point. Let me put it this way: - Do you make your imagined experience by the power of your will, or does all your experience just happen to you?

If the first, you must have an incredibly powerful will and imagination, to be able to come up with all that new and unexpected stuff in your life.

If the second, where do you suppose your experience is coming from? - it can't be yourself, because you're just a big old passive receiver of experience. It must surely come from somewhere that isn't you.

The explanation that makes the most sense (and philosophy is about making sense) is that there is a world outside of your mind that is the cause of your experience, a world that includes other minds in bodies that behave much the same way your body behaves: - if you cut them, do they not bleed? - if you tickle them, do they not laugh? - and if you wrong them, do they not kick up a stink about it?

Everything is your imagination. We all see the same thing in a different way depending on many factors. At one time it is possible that a culture or sub culture will consider something to be much the same. Look at most elections..... a 6% difference is a land slide! Look at all of the religions that have millions of followers that do not see God in the same way....amd then there are those who say there is no God!

So go on livilng and do the best you can and if the world you think exists does not drive you nuts then it may be okay.

If you're capable of "imagining" the bullet I shoot through your leg, then more "power" to you...

You can think about it, and say YES! I would still think I'm imagining it!... but you're distance to the level of that pain is far. If this is all just an imagination and everything is as a dream-- holding signifigance, but not PRESSING signifigance, would you Allow me to shoot you in the leg?

If it's all an interiority, and dream, and lacking verity--- Does it still Matter? I find it impossible to say No. Reality impinges on you, the door that closes off the hallway doesn't erase the hallway, it impinges on you. There is no lucid dreaming to be had. If I shoot you, you may hold up solipcistic absurdity-- and you will go to jail, prison, insane asylum for the same escapist, idealist reason.

You would have to have a pretty big imagination to cover all that you perceive in your world. Isn't it proven when you are in pain, in love, or when you are surprised by something in your life. What about a sunset--are you surprised by the glorious colors or did you dream it up? What about the scent of a flower you have not discovered yet, you look down and there it is. All those senses you were given are gifts to feel your world and know you are here!

I cannot answer this question; I can only know that even if this is a figment of my imagination, It's my place in this world to know only that which was borned from me to know with this brain capability. Perphaps with meditation, one can become so honed and calm, they would know even outside of their own mind, which is a paradox that I cannot at this point understand, but do believe in.

The fact that we're responding to you on computer should tell you that people exist outside of your mind.

But then, who's to say that you're not a figment of my imagination?

Anyway, we're all figments of God's imagination.

No one existing outside of your mind only you may.If lucky you will be that which people called Saint, if not they will put you in mental institution.I wish you to be lucky. Outside of your mind you are one with Christ, God, name it....How it will be perceived by those still in a mind never know...actually, then up to you to create.

Yes, they really do. Even if Quantum physics was true, other beings no matter what form they were in would have to be possible, because if they werent, then where would the "real" world have come from?

No. The world is really a virtual reality created by your brain through its interpretation of sense date collected through your senses. How you experience this world is what you think you are seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching, and thinking....ie..your mind.
