With the escalation of violence in the middle east this week, I was surprised to see a U.N. resolution created and shot down so quick-- but it was shot down by only ONE veto. The United States voted against it, 10 to 1. Is the system flawed if the US can simply say no to anything it doesn't like? Seems rediculous to me.

Because those are the rules the UN was set up by - one veto by any permanent member of the Security Council (not any UN member) means defeat of a resolution.

Thats the Veto system for you..i thin kit should be a majproty vote, if America doesnt like it they can leave. They've always been a thorn to world peace, why not just get 'em out the UN?

ya ridiculous, these veto rules were made back in 1945 when most of the world was a colony of the then five major powers,so they got that veto power.
but i think with the changing times democracy should also prevail in UN too with one country one vote policy.
