Tap water is supposed to be safe and in some places in the world that may be so.Tap water can contain as much as 103 different chemicals and most of them(63) can cause cancer.Chlorine is one of these but is considered essential to kill bacteria.Get a water filtration system if you have any doubts. If you can afford it take a sample to an independent lab and ask for a full analysis. Then look up the chemicals and their side effects. Then you will be able to make an informed decision.

That depends on what country you live in and how much chlorine they use in your water. Some countries don't treat water and others treat it too much. I have never heard of anyone dying from drinking tap water, but I have heard of tap water making people sick. South America and Mexico are two countries that I have visited and was told to drink only bottled water and to not use ice.

Hell yes, I'm 29 and I remember when that's all there was to drink, and guess what? We are all still alive. Think about all the poor people around the world that drink water out of the ground, lakes, rivers, etc. Bottled water is just an huge scam. Yes, some states do put minerals in their water, but if you buy named brand tooth paste, and brush often you won't need it. England, no longer puts flouride in their water, because it cause the fish in the river to give birth to hermaphrodite(both sexed) fish.

If you live in the country and still get your water from a well, it's very safe and very clean but if you live in a large city with lots of pollution it's far worse.
