I'm really into hand to hand combat gaming like mortal combat, and street fighter but are there any other good games like them?

Yup - there are tons out there besides the Street Fighter series and the Mortal Kombat series...
2D Fighters:

the best one is Capcom vs Snk2 (dreamcast,ps2 or gamecube), id kick you *** in that game :)
