It's a feeble effort at diplomatically telling a girl that he's backing away, but don't take it as a personal insult - it's his fault - but it's designed to avoid an argument, buy some time, and hope you don't continue to ask too many questions before he can leave your presence.

In company, if a lady farts, a true gentleman takes responsibility and any comments that may result from the action. However, the mannerly way of accepting blame, is to say to others present 'Pardon me, it must have been something I ate' and definitely not 'Have that one on me bit*ch'...................

Because some guys have no accountability. Easier to blame someone else than possibly 'change' their attitude.

Because they are dumb & they think that might make the situation better by not blaming you, and I guess they think they won't be confronted w/ questions or be asked to give a real good explanation.

They are trying not to hurt your feelings and put blame where it really lies. They are taking the "fall" for you... be thankful you have a guy like that.

because they want to have the fault!!!
When he loves you, then it's because he doesn't want you to have the responsibility for the break up/fight or anything else.
When he doesn't want to be with you and he says that, it's because : he knows you have feelings for him, but with this excuse, -they think that- we feel that it's really their fault and we'll leave them alone!!
Hope i answered your question and that i wasn't out of your point!!!

To try to soften the blow when they break up with you. It means it IS you when he says that. Sorry, but if he's too stupid to see what a great catch you are, it's his loss.

They may really mean it. Perhaps they realize that it is "they" that has a problem and not you. If they tell you that, believe them!!
