If you are going to store your clothes be sure to start with impeccably clean storage containers. Don't just dump all your stuff in a box. Use clean plastic sealable containers or those things called Space Bags (you put the clothes in and suck the air out with your vacuum.
As far as getting the smell out the best thing to do is to start by "airing" them out. If you can put them on a clothes line that would be great. Before you store them again, wash them but use a small amount of clothes in the "large load" setting on your washer. Over-stuffing the washer with stinky clothes just results in the smell not having a chance to be rinsed out in the water. You can also use a bit of baking soda in the washing machine too.

Wash them and moth balls they smell horrible but keep out the moisture. I think thay now have scented moth balls so maybe you can try them. If they dont and you use the regular ones hang your clothes out for a while and the moth ball smell will go away. If all else fails use febreze.

After they are properly washed or dry cleaned, put them into the space saver bags you have to vaccuum the air out of, they work.

Wash them, then febreeze them. then as your packing them put some dryer sheets in between them. like three pieces of clothing then a dryer sheet, then another three and another sheet, or whatever, it's however you prefer. also don't forget moth balls or ceder wood balls or blocks.
