I am looking for a new job and considering a position of an accountant in GE. Has anyone here worked there and how did you like it?

Great Company to work for! Work pressures, competitiveness are common anywhere. Its important to one to be associated with a company like GE atleast once in a lifetime (preferably at the beginning of their career). It has strong values, rounded-up philosophy, vision, scalability and span (range of businesses) and definetly not the least, GREAT CULTURE - MADE BY ITS PEOPLE. If you are not too considerate on the pay (its for sure not the best pay master), JUST GO FOR IT! And stay in touch! All the best!

Never worked at GE but....

Starting out at a larger company in your particular trade (accounting) is a great way to enter into an industry, learn your trade, and make contacts to carry into the future. Companies offer incentive programs for you to stick with them for the long haul becuase of the fact that once you acquire these skills and contacts you will be likely to go off and start your own business making 10x the amount of money for 100x less stress. You will be punching a clock (which I HATE) but you will also reap benefits. I highly recommend leaving the retirement plan they offer alone and just stashing away your own money (typically 15-30% of each paycheck you make). This money will come into use after a couple years when you feel like you are ready to move on to bigger and better things.
