I own them both, sixteen candles is such a classic to me, brings back alot of memories, and so does Pretty in Pink, so I would pick Sixteen candles in a tie barely

ah, man...that's a tough question. I, too, love them both. John Hughes has done some fantastic work that was really pertinant to the teen experience in the 80's.
