For a 1 month old what is normal?

Yes appetite fluctuates a frigtening amount in children. If it goes down for a few days then don't stress too much. If your child is managing 4 4oz feeds a day then you will be ok.
If it is really low for more than 72 hours then go to the doctors.
You will notice if she isn't eating enough as she will stop crying, move very little and generally look like a starving baby

If you breast feeding then express some milk into a bottle to see how well she is feeding if you get really worried, but use this as a last resort because she may not like feeding from a bottle or may like it so much she wont go back to breast

Is it normal to not be normal? Actually, yes. Some days a baby will be hungrier than others. Just like *real* people.

It's a matter of degree, however. If a baby who normally nurses 12 times a day *suddenly* wants to nurse only 4 times a day, it is probalby a sign of a problem, especially if her behavior changes in some other way as well. As always, if you are concerned, talk to your pediatrician.

You shouldn't be overly worried about how much the baby eats, especially if you're breastfeeding. Just make sure she's wetting about 6 diapers a day, and as long as she's growing, she's fine. But babies will go through phases where they hit "growth spurts" and eat a ton, and then they'll back off. I can't remember when babies hit their growth spurts, I'm dealing with teenagers now. Just enjoy that baby for as long as possible, they grow up too darned fast!

Yes, babies go through growth spurts so they eat more sometimes and less others. Her appetite should pick back up soon. Make sure she's at least eating enough, otherwise, take her to a doctor.

It depends on how much less. If it's just a little then don't worry too much because their needs fluctuate. If it's a lot less then it never hurts to call the doctor and seek advice.

You answer your own question -- she is not eating the normal amount.

The next qeustion to ask is "Is this a problem?" I don't know -- but I do know you are looking in the wrong place. Ask your doctor.
