reducing wait or cue times, reducing inventory of raw materials, (Both of which would postively help reduce lead times), stabilize processing thru mechanical process improvements (make it run predictably), reduce wasted inspections,
basically you can work to make it faster, more reliably, or a closer interpretation of what the customers core needs are (which gets into design cycles, not academically considered manufacturing.)
