Start attending functions and begin asking questions. Most people will be happy to demonstrate activities that they are into. (You might need to be the one demonstrated on at times in order to get the viewpoint of the submissive.)
It's good that you are honest in stating that you are new at this. However, given the nature of the Dominatrix business, you will need to garner a lot of learning and experience before you can be successful.
