he has a normal appetite, he doesn't act sick at all, but he has this wierd indentation in his belly from his pelvic fin to his anal fin. does anyone know what could be wrong?

Could be a number of things. Usually it is sign of internal parasites or TB.

i have a male jack dempsey that has the same shape he took this shape after he and our female mated twice (and then ate all their kids) but thats besides the point
bubba (our male) has had this shape for about 8 months now and nothing else about his appetite or behavior has changed
i cant answer your question for sure but i think the little guy is ok just going thru some changes how old is the fish by the way?

take it to the vet... is the belly swelling? maybe to much food.. a tumor. i used to have a gineua pig.. and it had a tumor in the neck. dont let it go to long
