Poetry is the BIGGEST SCAM of it's kind. First off you get a "copyright" for anything you post on there, they don't check if it's previously copywritten. I know because just to check I posted a copywritten poem and BOOM in my mail comes this litte blue & white card with my poem printed and the copyright symbol. WOW, then amazing I get a card that says my poem is a semi-finalist,, and then OMG It's going to be published, and I have to buy the book???? Then miracle of miracles I get a email how I'm such an amazing writer that I've been chosen to attend the conference with only what maybe 100 other writers, but I pay for the conference and my travel and where I stay and my food.. ALL FOR A POEM THAT WAS WRITTEN AND COPYWRITTEN BEFORE I WAS BORN?????????
So, in short yes Poetry.com is a scam and I'm thinking of a new website .....poetrydotcomsucks... lol Have a great day

This is my third time answering this question. But they could have been simply taken off the web page but because you got an e-mail from them saying what it said I'm beginning to think it was all just a big fat scam. You could have wasted your time and effort with that site just to find it was just finding cheap ways to make money you should try and contact them.I'll check out the site if you want. I'll post back later.

apparently it is a scam check this out:

I believe the main idea for them is to sell books. They offered to publish my poem, if I pay for a book. I would ask Poetry.com to explain where your work has gone. Maybe it was a glitch of some kind. I don't think they would risk outright thievery. I hope you find your songs.

I am sorry to say that the book thing is a scam...I saw it on the news channel.

They probably took it off because it was copyrighted, not knowing that you posted your own copyrighted work.

Yes this is a con, a money making con.

They tell you that you are getting published, it has NOTHING to do with talent, and then they say that you work is in their books, or that buying their books will hep you in some way, they then get a profit.

I would try and find out what they are doing with your work, you don't want them making more money out of it.

yes! they are a scam!....
i submitted a poem on there and they mailed it back to me,
they said that i have won an award and needed to go to somewhere to retrieve it, well, that was a loooooong time ago and they still email me,
i just ignor it, it's a cheap website, no real reason to sue them,
i just hope you didn't give them you address, they can take any of your information and give it out to hackers, spammers, etc.
Good Luck!

They burned them.
You can't spell and I doubt you can sing. Your 'copywrited' songs (why would anyone want to steal them) have gone.

PS. Seeing as you're a writer, I'd better point out it should be 'their' not 'there'.
