I have a windows 2000 computer with one physical drive and two partitions C and D. I am planning to re-format and expand the C partition, since it 's running out of space.

I have created a ghost image of the disk. My question is, if I drop the backup image back on the disk, will it affect the new partition?. Or is it going to restore the original partion configuration (the one before the formatting)?

Thanks

If it's anything like Acronis True Image, you'll be given the option of resizing to the original or leaving as the new larger size.

If you made a image of the disk, it will drop both partitions back just like it is now. You need to make an image of the volume C:\ and then you can restore that to the hard drive. If you still want 2 partitions then format before you restore the image and have the sizes set the way you want. Just make sure the destination of the image on the hard drive (C:\) is the same size or larger then where the image came from and send the image to C:\ on the hard drive.

If you Ghost a drive, it will make an EXACT copy of whatever you ghosted on the receiving drive, including all partitioning.
