Yes. Everything has a legacy in American history, whether it's positive or negative. Hip hop will have both positive and negative places in history, from gangsta rap and violence, to being an inspiration to use words in a different way. Hip hop is a genre just as country music and rock music. Not trying to be stereotypical, but the violence and profanity in some hip hop music is equivalent to the drinkin in country music and the eccentric quality of rock.

I don't think legacy is the right word for it. However, I think that hip hop and rap have influenced a lot of different things in today's culture so history books should eventually mention this.

Legacy for sure, and both sides exist, good and bad and grey...But I really fear for real that CIA have infiltrated Hip-hop to put propaganda on it, and to discredit the Black revolution that was passing in part in Hip-Hop music, and still. Like 50 Cents. Gansta ghetto hate propaganda.
But there is good kind too for sure.

It will be in History until Big Bro decide to rewrite a sweeter version...(I'm so pessimist...)

it already does look at the so called 'east coast /west coast' drama that was fueled by media all centered around two hip hop rappers Tupac and Biggie I'm not saying ANYTHING negative about these two because they had a great influence on a lot of the music we hear today but their lives and deaths are shrouded by mystery and this is something my generation in particular will never forget
