Give him what he wants. Obviously he doesn't care about spicing it up. Now for you, you need to start fantasizing. That will spice it up for you.

Woman does not live by sex alone. Neither does man. There are all kinds of ways to spice up your sex life, but what really needs to be spiced up is your relationship. Do you do things together, such as picnics, get together with friends, games, shopping, walks ?
When you build a foundation that is solid and you bond on different levels other than sexual, it will improve your sex life, because your other needs are being met.
You can communicate openly and honestly, perhaps it is boring for him too. Perhaps he has a fantasy that you can fulfill, and you have one he can fulfill. It's a place to start.

The reason it is boring is because you don't truly love each other. You have lust, and it isn't enough to sustain a relationship.
A man has a great urge to have sex. You need to teach him that there is more to life than sex. I know, it is kind of hard to do when there is always another brainless bimbo around the corner willing to trade sex for acceptance.
