Will it work? Probably not. Let's give it a try, anyway.
Is this a sign of how desperate science is?

I know it's not going to work (see Newton's 3rd Law of Motion), but how many people are going to do it for the hell of it?

The site wasn't working when I tried to access it. But it probably wouldn't work if everybody tried to jump at the same time. Even if we had enough weight / mass / energy to do it, people on the opposite side of the globe would cancel the other's push so basically nothing would happen. But hey, it's nice dreaming we could destroy the world just by coordinated jumping ;)

How would 600,000,000 people jumping at the same time move the Earth?

OK if we went into another orbit two things would happen.in one season we would be burnt alive because we would be too close to the sun and in another season we would freeze to death (if you were survived the first season!)

No, it's more a sign of how many people have no understanding of physics.
