I just read an article today that said that N. Korea will stop if they get money from S. Korea, was this a blackmail (extortion) ploy?

I wish it was as simple as that.

Remember that North Korea was able to beat back the US Army (and what was left of the South Korean Army) back in the Korean War. So, it has less to do with acting like a child and more to do with reminding everyone what they did 50 years ago: it is kind of like throwing the gauntlet at the UN's feet and challenging them to invade.

No one is going to invade/attack North Korea, and we are constantly reminded of that. Walking out of those meetings is the reminder to the world.

Remember something about Hussein: he was the darling of US anti-Islam policy up until Gulf War I.

Press coverage focusing on his behavior in court distracts from the critical issues, like, for instance, during the time he was slaughtering the Kurds with poison gas, the US government knew what he was doing and did nothing. As long as he provided a bulwark against Iran, no one in the US government cared.

Remember that much of the intelligence Hussein needed to effectively fight Iran was from the US. We also provided him with money and tech support for some weapons systems.

I hope that people are reminded of this major blunder in US foreign policy that empowered Hussein to act so murderously towards his own people.

Again, when he throws a temper tantrum in court, it should remind us that he still enjoys major support from Sunnis and Ba'athists. There is a tiny likelihood that he will go free under force of arms. It is already suspected that the very members of the newly formed Iraqi government that the US supports are the people behind the latest rash of barbaric slayings throughout Iraq.

We should be concerned that we are ushering in a new group of Hussein wannabees. Let his temper tantrums remind us all of that indignant, arrogant, cavalier attitude that our badly planned foreign policy consistently results in.

Can't say he acting anymore like a child than George Bush.
George refuses to meet with a Mother of a fallen soldier.
George called leader of N Korea a pygmy.
George sat and talked to school children after knowing about 911.
George defends illegal activities and on and on and on.
George said the constitution is just another piece of paper.

The dictator of North Korea is always viying for attention like when he had those missles that scared the wits out of everybody...that also didn't make it out of the sea of Japan...just was tired of being ignored and overshadowed by the war in Iraq

Yes, north korea needs to get spanked, by dropping bombs. Sadam on the other hand should be turned upside down and be cained on the bottom of his feet, as his sons would do if he was theri prisoner.
