NASHVILLE — A fellow IRL driver says Danica Patrick has what it takes to succeed if she switches to the paint-swapping world of NASCAR and she's plenty aggressive in open-wheel racing when it's "the right time of the month."

"I mean, you know especially if you catch her at the right time of the month, she might be trading plenty of paint out there," he said. "But I think she'll hold her own. Who's she's going to drive for is hard to say. I don't think she's leaving, so we'll see."

Patrick, a presenter at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, didn't take offense when informed of Carpenter's comments.

"That sounds like a good joke to me, it's pretty funny to me," she said backstage. "No big deal. Ed is a really nice guy. There's no drama there. I think it's funny. I'm glad he's showing some personality."

Was Danica Patrick being polite and/or diplomatic with her response...?

Or was it no big dea...?

I think it's her being savvy about deflecting the question.

It was a horribly stupid remark that doesn't really make any sense in the first place.

To some people that remark could have been considered a derogatory statement. A woman's menstrual cycle is a personal thing.and has nothing to do with her ability to race.

We personal don't know Ed Carpenters intent with that statement. It is open to interpret ion

If Danica did not take offense to the statement ; then the public should not make an issue of it.
We don't know if Danica was being polite and honest or if she was being diplomatic. All celebrities must learn how to handle situations with poise and diplomacy.

P.S. Give Ed the benefit of the doubt.

i think im with Patrick.
it is not a big deal if a guy or someone else ask me whether i am aggressive when i m in the cycle, or they acuse me of being aggressiv to them when i m in the cycle. but it is not only when i m really aggressive to others during that time.
i think women being aggressive not only because they are in their cycle, it depends on ppl , u know someone's remark can drive ppl crazy.
i admit when i m in my cycle i l have short temper, but it doesnt mean i l be aggressive towards anyone, it depends
and one thing more it is not nice for a man to say such things to a woman,

I really don't think a woman's time of month is anybody's business. Its a very personal thing and I don't even like when other women, friends, come up to me and start telling me its their time of the month and they're bloated and so on, so forth. Geez, that's not my business and I don't care. This is definately too much sharing.

Although, you know, when its my time I go through a total mood swing and you better not p*ss me off.

I am sure she was prepared to answer some idiot posing that situation. It was meant as a joke, she took it same way.
No different in the past when drivers would party all night and drive with hang overs I'm sure.

Nah we're used to having it so it's fine. It just bothers me if someone asks if it's that time of the month and it isn't... then I feel like I was acting grumpy and PMSing even though it wasn't that time of the month.

Why diffuse a bomb that's already gone off? The guy made himself look like a moron all by himself. She didn't need to point it out to anybody. By brushing it off she made herself look that much more classy.

He was referring to it in a friendly way, and if she's not offended then it should be fine. It looks like these two people are friends, and probably talk to each other like that often.
