It was originally called 'Florizel Street' but changed to Coronation Street. William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow is the only survivor from the first episode and is the longest running soap star in the world.

sorry, but another world is the oldest, ok, its finished now, but it started on the radio first in 1958, and in 1963 started on tv.
