It should be 18. If you are responsible enough to vote, you are responsible enough to drink.

I don't know if it would actually be feasible or not, but I kind of think there shouldn't be a drinking age. My biggest concern about drinking is not the fact that a person is consuming alcohol but that they feel they can operate a vehicle after downing a few. Maybe if the government left the age at which people started drinking up to parents, fathers and mothers could impress upon their children the severity of drunk driving before kids started getting their licenses. However, when we turn 16 we suddenly have this new found freedom and with it comes a feeling of invincibility. Then throw a substance into the mix that is strictly off limits (making it even more appealing in a rebellious teenagers eyes) and you have a death sentence in the making. I dunno though. I can see a lot of problems with no drinking age too, but I think any age under 21 would help teach people to drink more responsibly and it might take away some of the allure illegal substances have to the 21 and under crowd. Anyway... just rambling I suppose.

Since your 20 i'd say 40 ..
this is enough time so you can see that drinking
does no one any good except change
your personality ......
see your friends who drink !!
Sure dear,
they are having fun,
but are they the same as before.
Peoples started with the booze because
water was not as clean in the early days
of history, people were either getting sick
or dying from drinking water, now look !!
Drinking has gotten out of hand ...
But its your life if that's what you want to do ..
But i don't know anyone, ANYONE who
changes for the better by drinking !!
Drinking for fun or drowning your sorrows,
or becoming to much of habit, drinking too
much can do one no good ..
I say that because i hear a little wine is good for the
heart.. and we all need help with our hearts ....
But to drown our hearts or heads .....
Now to be honest with you, i might have a beer once
in awhile, lets see, last year i had,
hmmmmm... 4 beers the whole year ...
i'm no saint, but drinking too much
is not for me ...
good luck ..
Hey i use to work for law firms too,
way back when ....
legal researcher, before computers !!!

18. For the government to say that people can handle killing people in the war or voting for pressing issues at 18 but can't handle a drink is just idiotic. You can even get married at 18 but can't have a glass of wine at your wedding.
I truly believe that lowering the drinking age would lead to a decrease in binge drinking in college settings because if there isnt anything taboo about drinking at 18, less people will want to do it.
I've been drinking since I was 10 at family dinners(We're Italian so we love wine) and drinking with my friends since I was 14. It's part of growing up.

What is it 17 when you can join the armed forces? That should be the age. At that age they can give there life for this county but they can't enjoy a drink if they want. Whats the diiference at least if you drink to much you will live longer than if you get shot and killed.
