He says he's seen a badger as big as a pig. That can't be true. Surely he's just liar.

If you're in the UK he could be telling the truth, European badgers are a different species from American ones and they can grow very large, easily about a metre long.

I've seen badgers in Essex,England that were at least the size of a small pig

He is mistaken - unless he is talking about a piglet. A Badger is about the size of a raccoon or an opossum, about 15lbs.
