And I don't think that America sending money to their governments will help...

No family planning, no contraception, no means of not becoming pregnant, the fact that their children are more likely to die so therefore they have more so at least some survive.

But by far the worse cause is the lack of female education. To teach them about family planning and why it would be better to focus all their attention on a few children than spread it over dozens. In places in India, like Kerrala, this has happened and the effects have been superb.

Not only do they not have birth control and education, they also could not afford the birth control. On top of this, many couples in these countries need to have many children to work the fields when there is some. Families in many of the more advanced countries did the same thing before they became industrialized.

Various reason. In many of those cultures, manhood is attached to the number of children one has. Also, because of poor health care and a subsistence life, the death rate among children is higher so having a large family makes it more likely that one or more will survive to adulthood. Others have mentioned similar factors such as lack of birth control, etc. that are also valid. Also, countries colonized by Catholic nations are generally against birth control to begin with.

Many of these nations are suffering from conditions similar to those in the European Middle Ages.

Many 3rd world countries way of life depends on having many children for working reasons. A household cannot survive without many workers to help out. Therefore they continue to have many children to survive. To them, this is the only logical way of life.

Other times, it may just depend on the lack of protection and resources that the country has.

Lack of education, resources, and birth control. Also, the number of children that die in these countries is just staggering, it could be a way for parents to ensure they have children that reach adulthood. It is also another set of hands in labor and in making money for the family.
