Infinte... never-ending...indefinite...a long, long, long way!

Infinity is not a number, it is a mathematical concept of increase beyond bounds. There are two known types of infinity: the countable infinity and uncountable infinity. Any infinite well-ordered set that has a one-to-one correspondence with the natural numbers (1, 2, 3... ) is countably infinite. The set of real numbers is uncountably infinite as there is not a one-to-one correspondence between the real numbers and the natural numbers--take any two real numbers and there are a transinfinite or uncountable set of numbers in between them on the real number scale.

Since infinity it is not a number, it cannot be quantified to a discrete value, and therefore when used in the context of distances, it is not attainable or reachable.

Infinity can be pretty short, actually.

If a person were to draw a line across the circumference of any sphere, that line would be infinitely long in that it has no beginning nor end.

You talk about infinity as if it's a place. It is not. It's a mathematical concept to describe what happens when we don't have a number to describe it.
