COME ON!!!! It's been like 15 years!!!!! Now or never! But it depends very much on their pitching. We need to see more consistency out of the starters. Besides Capuano, there ain't much doing. When is Sheets coming back? I hear he is rehabbing in the minors. I hate to say it but even if he does come back, I have very little faith that he will stay healthy. Cardinals fans will NOT like this Yahoo question! Haha. But it's time for another team now. Make the National League interesting again.

Just to respond to J down there... Cardinals ALMOST lost first place recently. Quite open for the taking. Even with Pujols performing extremely well, the Cardinals have lost alot in terms of talent. They are on the verge of crumble.

And remember, I am NOT a Cubs fan. I do not dislike the Cardinals. I am an unbiased friendly Wisconsin type Brewers fan. I am NOT a Cubbie yuppie.

I like the addition the Astros made of picking up Huff; he has throughout his career been a second half player, and that team needs some offense. Could he be the Carlos Beltran of 2 years ago? We'll see, but if the Astros are going to do anything they need to get Lidge fixed ASAP and turn Andy Pet... around.

Brewers: I like this team....Bush is turning into a solid pitcher, I'm not sure what Davis is doing. They changed his mechanics a few weeks ago when he pitched a couple of gems, but then he blew up his start before the all-star break. I don't see the Brew Crew picking up many players, so that leaves Ben Sheets as the wild card. Their chances could lie on the strength of Sheets' right arm. But like you I do not like the looks of his situation.

Reds: Their pitching is coming back down to reality. I like the addition of everyday Eddie, that shows that they are willing to make some moves to stay in the hunt. But they need one more solid starter; Arroyo and Harang can only carry you so far. Their bullpen is probably the worst in baseball and needs major repair.

Card: They will make some moves; they need a SP also. I wont talk about them as we all know what they are capable of.

This is a very good year for baseball (minus steroids issues). Every division is up for grabs right now except for NL East. I see the Central coming down to the team that makes the best move for their needs. The Reds have the best record within the division and they still have several games left with the Pirates. No teams has a winning record over the past 10 games. I think you also have to go with experience (Cards/Astros). I think the Brewers can win the division, but if I were asked to take a team I would lean towards the Astros. Mainly because of their starting rotation.

I would love to see the Brewers win the central. I have been a Brewer fan all my life and would like to see what happened back in 82. But realistically I dint see them doing it this year. They could make a serious run for the wild card. I hope Sheets and Okha are healthy for the 2nd half and the rest of the team can stay healthy. If that happens they have a shot. Also this team needs to make a move to compete , and they cant get rid of anyone. Hopefully they are committed to keeping the team together for the future.

I don't think so, at least not this year. The Cardinals are finally making a move, and they will win the NL Central by 8 games.

Have to call them as I see them

Maybe. just because the did good in the first half doesn't mean they will have quite as good of a second half. But I would love to see them win it. It would put some variety in the playoffs. Their starting pitchers are great, and they have a lot of good rookies and players. there bullpen is questionable, but it can still make a stand!

It'd be nice to see the Brewers win the Central Division, but it's probably not gonna happen.

I really hope so. They are proving themselves to be a great comeback team. If they start a huge winning streak and the Cards start a losing streak, then maybe , just maybe they have a chance.

i dont think so cause every with pujols on the disabled list, the cardinals were still able to hold first place, given the fact that scott rolen was on fire still its not gonna happen

Sure, the Brewers have a chance, if they get rid of Jeff Cirillo before he reverts to form (and I don't mean when he was with Colorado, either).
