No, I'd be fooling myself. And shrinks are well enough trained to know if you are.

Avoidance, denial and delusion are some of the worst things to affect people in the 21st century.

Acceptance of reality is the ultimate spiritual path for any of us.

Lying to a shrink is like taking photo's and not having the negatives developed or getting prescription drugs and not taking them. If you do it you're aware of a problem that exists that he/she will want to deal with but you (general reference) are afraid to.

If you can resolve a problem, do so. Do it quickly and get on with living your life happily.

If you have an issue with trusting your shrink, go to a different one.

I wouldn't, no. You wouldn't go to your general doctor and not tell him about certain symptoms....mental health is just as important. Besides, going to the psychiatrist or psycologist is the one opportunity you have to really open up about your problems and discover things about yourself that you wouldn't allow yourself to do otherwise. If you lie to them, you won't get the help you need.

No. What's the point of going, spending the time and the money if you're not going to take the process seriously? Plus, most mental health care providers are skilled at reading people. They'll probably be able to tell if you're lying to them.

I have never been to therapy but i am going to say no. However somethings are so embarrassing in your life that you don't want anyone to know and it is possible to even lie to yourself
