You have my sympathies. I understand exactly what you are going through and where you are coming from.

First, ask for an emergency number (usually it's another shrink in the same office), so you have it if needed. If it is not too late, have a last session during which you discuss ways of staying calm and safe while s/he is gone.

Second, make a list of the things you can do to calm yourself while s/he is gone. And journal as often as you need to ... use the journal like a letter to shrink ... saying the things you would if s/he was there.

Third, find a support person you can trust, that will agree to be called if you need to talk.

Good luck.

I have been in your shoes so I can tell you that you will survive this time. 2 weeks can seem like forever, I know, but it is only14 days. Then he will be back. I'm sure you and he have worked on some ways that you can cope. Remember that he is only going away for a short time, not abandoning you. You are stronger than you think you are. The goal of your therapy is to help you to eventually be more independent. You can't do anything about tomorrow. So try to not think about it. Focus on today only. If you have to, take it a minute at a time. And congratulate yourself for making it through each day. Lean on God. He'll help you be strong. I pray that you'll see that you can get through this. God bless!

i don't know why u r seeing a shrink, but think abut what she taught u, relaxation techniques and so on and implement them when needed. also what might help keep things under control is keeping a diary for those two weeks so that u can see how u r doing without the shrink.
e-mail me if u need very professional help

You should simply contact me any time you want. And don't worry for a single second. I do realize this sudden panic feeling. No sermons therefore would help you out.

p.s. you Will be contacting a psychiatrist trained in psychotherapy.
