Well third time isn't always the charm this is only in some cases and it really depends on what you're doing. Any time can be the charm. if it's something like shooting darts and it takes you up until the third time to get it in the middle, then third time is the charm because the first two tries were practice.

I think it has to do with what you personally believe. I have heard that with all things, by the time you have hit your 3rd time around you should have learned what does and doesn't work. However I have seen (and maybe you have too) that there are people out there that have been with the same "type" of person over and over again (way more than 3 times) and they still don't learn. Or the husband and wife that has the same argument their whole marriage. So personally I don't think the 3rd time is a charm, I also don't think that 3 strikes means you are out (well I mean in life cause in baseball its a rule.) But what I do believe is that people's "charm" will hit them when it hits them, be it the 3rd time or 300th time. Hope this answers your question.

I don't know "why" it works that way, but for me, it's happened a few times!

My third-time charm in the "love" category is definitely my keeper! We are truly meant to be together for many different reasons! I am HIS third love, too, which makes it even more cool!

I currently live in my third home - works for me! I plan on being here a couple more years!

I recently purchased my third TV. It's been a pleasure having it in the office, so now I can watch whatever interests me AND be on on line!

I own my third vehicle - it was brand new when I bought it. I'm very happy with it and plan on keeping it until it completely dies!

Believe it or not, this IS the third question I've answered tonight!

Saving the best for last . . . "I" am the third child in my family. I guess my parents are blessed every day, knowing I am their cute, little charm! LOL

Okay, I just wanted to share some examples of when the third time was a charm for me! I'll leave now with it being 11:43 pm!!!!! LOL

Well, lets look at why it's not other numbers, and that will tell us why it's the third.

It's not:
1- no one suceeds first time unless it's a fluke
2- still too early
10+-who's going to try something more that 10 times in a row?
4- fourth time's the charm doesn't sound as good
6-9- hopefull things have worked by now, dont need to say it anymore
5- (this one's the hardest to think of a reason for) third comes before fifth, giving people hope that the thing will be done sooner.

I don't know. Maybe it's because when you wish on a star, you get what you want if you wish it three times. Plus, I love the number three. It's a magic number. I have three charms. The third one I lgot works. The others are for show! Hope you have your third charm! It is really because 3 and 7 are spiritual numbers. but im number 4 and now the 4th time is the charm not the 3rd.

Now, this is just best guess, but what isn't? I think that the third time is the charm because having tried something two times prior to the third you have had practice. Most likely the first two times were messy, unorganized, failed...etc. However the third time you try something, I think, people have often had enough trial and error by then to get whatever it is that they are doing right.

It's not. It's an old wifes tales. But there are other things with 3 things bad happens in three, ya da ya da ya da. Or maybe the first time you it sends all the information to the body the second is how much force and the third x a charm.

I think, psychologically, when first time doesnt work you loose half the confidence and if the second time doesnt work, you might make up your mind that you can't do it since it didnt work the first time. May be thats why elders invented this thing called third time, to boost the morale and boost some confidence. More like keeping hope alive. Its the same thing with the phrase.."failure is the stepping stone of success". Instead feeling about about failure, its better to turn it our advantage by understanding from it so that we dont repeat the same, which give more probability for success. Third time charm is similar to this.
