Prostitution, like illegal drug use, is a crime. Going to a homeless shelter is not a crime. The first seeks relief through the desires of the flesh, while the other seeks relief through charitable means. Prostitution is more than a need for money---it is the need to strike out at the institution of marriage. Prostitutes hate married women and marriage. Prostitution is an attack against God because God created the institution of marriage.

The prostitute's lifespan gets shorter, due to likeliehood of STD and/or being with someone who decides to beat the living crap out of her.
I have worked in shelters and have known prostitutes (relatives who became drug addicts and then descended into desperate measures to afford the drugs). Many shelters offer all kinds of social services to help individuals AND families not only get back on their feet, but also help them with life-management classes to help them stay on their feet.
As an educator, I have taught children who lived in shelters. The shelter is definitely the better and, generally speaking, safer choice.

Prostitution is generally more dangerous than a shelter. Homeless shelters often can connect people with job and educational oppurtunities. If prostitution is legal and regulated in your country it is an option I suppose.

The person who falls into prostitution is selling themself and defiling thier body which is sacred, a person goes to a shelter doesn't have no where to go, but has the morals to stay out of prostitution, so I guess you could say morals.

Self Respect--- The one that goes to the shelter has enough self respect to go to a shelter for assistance then to give themselves away to strangers and be used for sex and become vulnerable to so many diseases and abusive pimps and John Does. Even though they are getting paid it is still not enough compared to the self respect, integrity and dignity they are losing!

One chooses prostitution and the other chooses to go to a shelter. If they really are the same other than that, then it has to be a choice issue.

Simple their brain processes.
in the prostitution example they take self pride two different ways. One would say "I am too proud to sell my body." and the other may say " I am to proud to ask for a handout."

different values? Different amounts in self-confidence? Different views of what constitutes of success?
Everybody has a different measurement of what constitutes their bottom line.
Like, some would never put their life on the line for what they believe.
Me- I pray that, God forbid, I have to put my life on the line for what I believe in. I pray that I have the strength and faith to do that.

Illegality ---> jail ---> 3 square meals a day and a place to sleep.
Not to mention your own room and roomate, with a toilet and a sink, and cute little matching jumpers!
