Today is my boyfriend's birthday. He turned 20 today and we have been living together for about 9-10 months. This is what I plan on doing:

1. Cooking him dinner. Most likely italian (either chicken parmesian or lasagna).
2. Baking him a cake. He said he liked carrot cake a lot. I don't like it but that's what I am making tonight (for the first time I might add). Hopefully it will turn out okay.
3. I bought him the DVD "The Patriot" because he has been talking about wanting to see it for a while so I figured we could eat dinner and cake, and then watch the movie while he sits in his new recliner I got him last week (early B-day present).

Is this a good idea, or is it kind of 'lame'? I want his birthday to be special and I don't want to dissappoint him. Last week was my b-day and he cooked me dinner and took me to a movie, etc.

I thought about having a couple friends over and some of his family but it's a work night and we both have to get up tomorrow morning. I thought perhaps we could have some people over during the weekend instead. Bad idea?

I think that's romantic. Having family and friends over on the weekend is a good idea. My birthday is Sunday and I hope my husband puts half the effort that you and your boyfriend did.

there is no longer a huge deal except on your destiny MIL's suggestions. i imagine going to the formal dinner is better than adequate. it is compared to you probably did not celebrate her birthday including her. i'd deliver her a astounding card with a be conscious wishing her a astounding time in Rio and that you're quite sorry and dissatisfied that you're going to bypass over the holiday and social gathering yet you should assist your sister contained in the birthing room so so that you could be accessible for her and he or she's due even as you may be in Rio. You desire you could celebrate her different birthdays including her and some thing of the holiday journeys besides. you could always get better with honey than vinegar. she is going to affix your household so that you pick to objective to make issues as basic for your self as plausible. bear in mind you should cope including her on some element at kin activities/holiday journeys. Well if he doesn't like it I'll be over tomorrow! ;-) Seriously, it sounds like a great night. Now when his 21st comes around that is a whole other birthday celebration.

I think it's very sweet, and I am sure he will really appreciate it. I think you should also consider making it a candle light dinner.
