My girl friend has a hard time listening and understanding things I tell her. When I try to explain things to her she miss interprets what I say or simply doesn't understand me. I talk to her about important things such seeing her doctor for preventing possible cancer being developed. Or things she can do to better her future. I haven't been successful because she doesn't understand my "language." She's also sensative; takes things personally easily. How can I word things so she can understand me? Also how can I tell her things without her thinking I'm being mean when I'm really not?

What kind of things is it that she's not listening to or understanding? You make mention of her seeing her doctor to prevent cancer or things she can do to better her future. Did she ask you for advice? Maybe she is not misunderstanding. Maybe she's not looking for a life coach or someone to examine and resolve all they see as potential problem areas of her life. Try relaxing and just being her boyfriend. Offer advice when asked. Otherwise, let her run her own life. I understand you are only trying to help but if she wasn't asking for help she will be defensive because it will come across like you don't think she's running her life properly and needs you to tell her what to do. Maybe not the answer you were looking for but that's my 2 cents worth. Good luck. It's nice to see you care enough to be looking for an answer.

I dont know, they just dont seem to understand us. But I would try to explain where u are coming from. Exactly why you have this point-of-view and be able to explain yourself. Of course support her with whatever changes she decides to make, but sometimes in life people just need to learn the hard way, by their own mistakes.

My, my. You sound really controlling, like you want to run her life. No one likes to be treated that way. I think she probably understands you, maybe a little too well. And when you talk personally to her, what you say is probably personal.

Explain to her that you care about her, and that's why you tell her these things. Most women are very sensitive. You have to show her you care about her sensitivity too!
