If the woman dies

There are a couple of ways you can tell if a rabbit is pregnant:

The first way is by palpating or feeling for the babies when the rabbit is a couple weeks along into her pregnancy. Vet are used to doing this and a good vet should even be able to tell approximately how many she will have.

The second way of telling is by putting the doe (female) back in with the buck and observing how she reacts to him. When you put her in with the buck if she is pregnant she will normally react differently than when she is not pregnant. Often when the doe is pregnant she will run away and grunt like she's scare or she will fight back ferociously possibly even trying to mount the buck. If she's not bred, she probably will run around the pen but won't act scared or grunt.

The third way is by watching her stomach. It will normally hang down a little more than usual by at least a week or two before she is to have her babies.

The fourth way is by monitoring her weight. Her weight will go up by about a half pound or so if she is going to have babies.

The gestation period or length of pregnancy for a rabbit is 28-32 days (same as the number of teeth they normally have). It's best to put the nest box in on the 28th day. Straw is usually the best bedding to use in a nest box because it has less of an odor than other beddings. Rabbits don't like odors in their nest box. The nest box should be about 2" longer and 2" wider than the rabbit. Get it too big and it won't feel like she can hide in it and she may try having them between the nestbox and cage. I like to use pegboard in the bottom of the nestbox because the holes allow any urine to drain out, thus helping to eliminate ammonia odor.

Did you buy a rabbit that you think is pregnant, or do you own unspayed and un-neutered male and female rabbits?

If you think your rabbit is pregnant, DO take it to the vet to be checked. Rabbits need different things when they are pregnant, and require a private setting to raise babies in. Stress to a rabbit is more extreme if the rabbit is breeding, and stress can cause a rabbit to kill its own babies.

If your rabbits are not spayed/neutered, you need to look into doing that soon. Female rabbits need to be altered, because they have a 90% chance of developing cancer if they are not. Male rabbits become more cuddly and less aggressive (no spraying urine) when they are altered.

Best wishes for you and the rabbit(s).

My rabbit had a baby a month ago. Well, my rabbits fur started to fall off, but don't throw it out, it is for the baby's bed. She will then start ripping out newspaper and putting it in her cage next to her fur, then about a month or a month and a half, the baby will come out. Mine is now one month old. He is the cutest little thing!!!

By the time you ask, it will probably have it will probably have delivered it's herd (yes that is the proper collective term for the 'litter'). A rabbit's gestation period is about 1 month.

well you can tell if a rabbit is pregnant, if: she was with another boy(man) rabbit
- her fur starts to fall
- she builds a nest in her cage
or of course she will get fat!

thank you SOO much!
hope you'll pick me as the best answer! ^__^
