Good question. What branch of the service are you in? How many years do you have invested in the military already? Do you have enough education and/or job skills to get a good-paying job in the civilian sector? Unless you have a Bachelors' Degree or training in a field that pays extremely well (like network administration or any of the medical fields) then I would advise you to reenlist and finish up your education. However, if you could live with family and use your G.I. Bill to go to school full-time for the next couple of years, you may want to consider going from active duty to the Reserves or National Guard. That way you still have some income, you'll continue to get some of your military benefits and privileges, and you will still be eligible for retirement if you stick it out for at least 20 years (hey, military retirement is nothing to be sniffed at -- every little bit helps once you're retired).

I spent 22 years in the US Air Force and I'm glad today that I did. I really enjoy getting $2500 a month in retirement pay.

Now, to answer your question, let me say that you are a darn fool to ask this question on this web site! Don't look to us fools to answer questions that are important to your life.

If you are happy with what you do, you have to decide if you want to continue. If you are not happy at what you do, then get the hell out, you're no good in the military.

You wanted an answer, I gave you an answer. Most likely not the one you were looking for though.

Of course! That's if you support a war begun by fascist wimps who either deferred their way and/or called daddy to get them out of fighting when they were younger and have unconscionably decided to keep out remaining troops in for more target practice.

Oh yeah and let's not forget that wonderful prospect of getting limbs torn off or just getting blown to bits. So sure. Go reenlist!

Why not? You have a career and are paid every two weeks. Vacation of 30 days a year.
Yes I know that you could be sent to Iraq but it is or was your choice to enlist in the first place.

first of all, the defense force interior the US is an all volunteer defense force, so there isn't any "mandatory reenlistment" occurring. besides the undeniable fact that, they are doing "carry overs or end loss" for some troops today. enable me clarify how that's happening. once you enlist, you're guaranteeing which you would be obtainable for defense force accountability for a minimum of 8 years. while you're on energetic accountability for 4, then you definately've 4 years that the defense force places you on "inactive waiting reserve", and in that factor, they are able to call you lower back to energetic accountability at any time. that's how they are able to maintain various the infantrymen that are on the tip of their energetic accountability enlistment time from keeping apart from the service. that's only happening for severe jobs interior the service. in case you have questions approximately this, please touch your nearby recruiter and he will practice you methods all of this works. Thank your sister for her service to our u . s . for me.

Have you started your degree? If you're close to earning your undergrad and you like the military, why don't you pursue a commission? You might like being in charge! :-)
