Can I lose this weight and still stay on the pill? Do I need to do any special diet and exercise?

Any exercise will be good for you. Many b/c come with that risk...I was warned about it ahead of time, so that way I could keep it under control...
Eat healthy foods and exercise a few times a week.

That happens! It's one of the wonderful side effects of B.C. ! Be thankful it was only ten! You can lose the weight and stay on it, you just have to "up" whatever your routine was before. If you weren't working out, do a little exercising. If you already were working out, do a little more. You don't need a special diet, just try and eat healthier. Oh and- drink lots of water! Some of that weight could be water weight. Believe it or not, the body retains water when it needs more!

I'd like to bet that overeating made you put the weight on and you're using the pill as a convenient reason because the weight gain co-incided with you taking the pill. There are plenty of thin women on the pill so it can't be that. Consult your doctor, just in case, as there are several different types of pill and if it really is the cause then he/she can put you on a different one.

Some pills will cause weight gain. That's one question I always ask my Dr. Try switching to a new pill. I take Yasmin and I haven't gained any wait. I was using the patch - I didn't gain weight from that either but it's not very safe I heard. Use at your own risk.

All birth control pills may increase your weight. I gained about 20 lbs when I was on them. You definetly have to watch what you eat and make sure you excercise. Also, drinking lots of water will help. When I got off of my birth control, I lost most of the weight.

You usually don't lose it until you go off the pill. It wouldn't hurt to keep exercising and eating right, but this weight gain is hormone related.

"fat happens"... best you can do is keep your body well-toned-- unless you're really short, that 10 lbs won't make a big diff.
Hell, you might even look better to a lot of us, but I know that how YOU feel about you is most important... it might not be permanant, so I'd recommend you just do some light toning-exercises for the affected area(s).
In any case, take your pill as prescribed... unless it causes any real health problems or unpleasant side-effects.

Talk to your doctor--you may be able to change your pill to one without the side effect of weight gain or increased appetite. I had to change 4 times (for various reasons) until I found one that worked for me.

its pretty normal because yur puttin extra hormones into your body the weight will most likely go off with time and added excersise could help. putting on weight is just the way that your body reacted to the hormones not because your getting fat. my advise its better to stay on the pill and gain a few pounds then get off it and have a risk of a child. : )
