I've got a eMachines W2888 (yes, I'm cheap) and I've been thinking of transfering some of my vinyl records onto my PC.

Most guides reccomend that I hook up the record player onto my computer's soundcard.

All I need to know at this is where the soundcard is. Is it external or internal?

Soundcard is internal.Connect ur record player to AUX slot at back of ur CPU.Soundcard has three slots(jacks/holes) one for mic,one for speaker, the third is for auxillary devices. This jack is near the jack for speakers on CPU.Check it round there.

Sound card is internal. You have to open up your tower to see it. You can view your sound DRIVER from your control panel, Systems...but the sound card itself is inside your computer. Its a hardware, not a software.

I have an emachine too. I have 2 Dells, Toshiba, and an emachine. They are good for file storage =) They were cheap, but I like cheap.

The sound card is internal but the ports are external. You should see three small holes side by side (one of which your speakers should be plugged in to). The other two are "mic in" and "line in" which should accomodate your turntable (you'll need an adaptor cable"
