From the owner of the Pontiac/GMC dealership where a friend and I were looking at a new GTO. I was 15 and a sophomore in high school. This was during our lunch break.
We went back to school, told people, and the principal threatened us with expulsion for lying. The superintendent came over the public address system announcing the president being shot.
Nasty little creep principal still wanted us expelled as not being of proper "moral fiber." He died at 84 a couple of years ago.

I was sitting in my 6'th grade Science class, watching something on TV. I lived in Dallas at the time, and was much younger.
Funny, I can't remember what we were watching, but I DO remember that the show was interupted with the news.
Our school had been talking all day about the President coming to Dallas that day. We were all very excited about it.
The classroom got very quiet, except for the people that were crying. It was a very sad day, and one I will never forget.

I actually remember, it was a pretty day, quite warm despite the date. I was sitting with my fifth-grade class; it was right after recess that followed lunch. After the intercom announcement, my teacher got us to talking about Presidents, although no one had formed an opinion of Jack Kennedy. I remember we finished up the discussion with how the nation had always survived the deaths of Presidents. I think that helped me form my life-long opinion about the limited effects that death and tragedy really have on us and how we always survive and go on. Now, THAT was a teacher!

I was at school, first grade, and didn't quite understand at the time what was going on or why the teacher was crying. The next day we drove 3 hours to Grandma's. I remember watching the funeral on her tv, also remember seeing Ruby kill Oswald. No one will forget, it was the end of innocence.
