I think you know what

The best thing that ever happened to me was that I was downsized from a corporate job. I was so angry at first - I felt totally taken advantage of - but it was the first step to my being able to work for myself. I got severance pay and unemployment benefits that helped me in my first year working freelance.

The funniest thing is how unexpected it was, and yet, so clearly the only way. I have never looked back and I have been on my own for 10 years. My future husband was able to break free of corporate america too, since I had laid this ground work, and now we both work from home for our own consulting biz and raise our kids together. It's fanastic!

I don't think I will ever work in a cubicle again and that fills me with great peace of mind. Thanks for the reminder!

Peace!

My son...he wasn't planned, but he was the best surprise I ever could have had and I have never considered him to be a "mistake". I literally cannot imagine what my life would have been without him in it...and would NEVER consider doing it over without him.

Of course, he has given me a fair share of grief at times, but you can't appreciate the good without a little bit of the bad, right? He will be 25 the end of this month and has grown to be an admirable young man with good ambitions, an awesome personality, and of course, handsome too. (We moms have bragging rights when it comes to our own!)

The semester I spent aboard in Spain. I was able to travel Europe, experience Spain and learn a lot about the world and myself. It was the best and hardest thing I ever did for myself.
