L'oreal is produce by the same company and in the same factory as Lancome. It's the package and adverts that set the price point higher for Lancome. Neutrogena and Physician's Formula are fine but do not have the staying power of some others. Jane and Prestige are crap. Almay is fine but is geared to more sensitive and aging skin.

And if you love Chanel, try Borjois. You can purchase at Sephora in the US. See description of Lancome/L'Oreal above...

How do I know...it's what I do for a living.

It depends on your skin type. If you have oily skin that breaks out easily, you should'nt use "drug store" brands. When you do buy make-up. Make sure you read everything on the bottle so you know exactly what the make-up does, is made of, and what skin types it's good for. Try to stick to the "not-so-cheap-not-so-expensive" brands. I would'nt use Jane. Almay and L'oreal are okay, but not the best. Try these, they are deffinatly the best, Clinique, Clarins, Sephora Lancome, or Estee Lauder.

I haven't tried Isadora, but I know it's very popular in Europe and have heard good things.

Jane is not that great.

L'Oreal is very good, overall.

Almay isn't bad, but watch the skin-care products for irritating ingredients (like lots of alcohol)

Neutrogena is good also

Physician's Formula is not so good. There are actually no standards for being able to call a formula hypoallergenic or to get a dermatologist recommendation.

Don't know about Prestige.

Neutrogena & Physician's Formula are good. Jane and Loreal; not so much. I haven't used the others. The quality of makeup is really expressed in the price.

Neutrogena makes good stuff for your face but it is not make up. Try Clinique or MAC those are good. Clinique is the less expensive of the two if your looking for something that is cost effective?

No. They all suck. Try sephora.com. My favorites are Nars, Borjois, Smashbox, Guerlain, YSL, and Chanel.

No, they are all cheap chain brands that you can buy in Wal-Mart. But, to each their own.

Isadora is better than loreal, a lil bit better than 'ok' but not so good as 'gooood'.
