My husband and I haven't used protection in a year and a half and I'm still not pregnant. We have a Very Very healthy sex life so there isn't a problem there. He has two daughters from a previous marriage so I know he's not sterile. I’m 19, he’s 30. I believe that the problem may be me. I have unusual periods, I first had it at 13, and I had it normally for about a year and a half, then it just quit. I had it checked out when I was 15 and my doc. gave me some meds to make it start back and the put me on the birth control and it was normal until September 2005 when I stopped taking it in hopes of getting pregnant. I had my period once since September, and that was about two months ago, I hoped it had started back regular on its own, but it hasn’t come back yet. I’ve taken multiple pregnancy tests and all were negative.

Mrs. M, If your husband is willing I think it is time you guys see a infertility specialist. You are in the age group that can see a specialist after a year of trying. Just because he has children does not mean he can still have children. I am not trying to scare you I just don't want you to blame yourself. When it comes to infertility research shows it is 50/50 on who is to blame. Has he had an accident since then? His age may also play a role. I think what your problem may be is your irregular periods. That is a sign of not ovulating. You can not get preger unless you ovulate but a specialist can put you on something like clomid to make you ovulate your very next cycle. There is probably no explanation for your not ovulating but it definitely is not your fault. My husband and I have been trying actively for 10 months with no luck. I have taken 10 pg tests and get more discouraged every time. I am 25, he is 30. He has actually already underwent a procedure for a vericocile. I also only ovulate every other month and have a tilted pelvis. We have not been trying long enough to see a specialist but we did have his sperm checked and found out he had a problem, we then saw a urologist who specialized in male infertility. I found out I was only ovulating every other month with ovulation predictor kits. Good luck, Jenni

Have you been to your doc for a pap yet? If you are due, schedule an appt. now and get him in the loop on what is going on. Make sure you are taking prenatals now too before you get pregnant, to get the folic acid in you.

I swear by the 21 day ovulation test. I got it at Walgreens. With your cycle, you will have to go back to when you last had yoru period two months ago, and figure when your period would have started this month. Figure a three - five day period and start using the ovulation kit. It will test your urine for 21 days to see if you have a LH surge, which indicates ovulation. If you aren't ovulating at all, you know why you aren't getting preggos.

Are you very thin? That can have a big effect on your cycle. Stress can do it too. You might need to get a laparoscopy done to check for scarring in the tubes or uterus.

One other thing I did was use Dong Quai while I was testing for ovulation, its a herb that is supposed to help fertility. Once I got the positive ovulation test I stopped taking it because you don't want it in your system once you actually get pregnant.

Good luck, I hope you get the help you need to get pregnant soon!

You are probably not ovulating which is why you are not having a period, since the problem was corrected before with pills and birth control, your problem can "probably" be easily fixed with fertility drugs. See your gynecologist and tell him you want to get pregnant and you have been trying for a year(1 year is considered infertile) he will start testing and get you on the drugs you need. I had almost 10 years infertilty and just had a healthy baby girl last year. I wish you the best of luck

Maybe you should get the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler! It's really informative and will let you know when you ovulate (if you ovulate)! That could be the problem! And if you do ovulate, you'll know better when to have sex! The book tells you how to check your Basal Body Temperature (BBT), check you cervical fluid, and the position of your cervix! It's really helpful! And if you find out that you are not ovulating, then you could go to the doctor and they could help you get everything in order! Best of luck with everything...I'm going through the TTC process too!! And I hope this helps...

Since you have been trying for a year and a half, you are considered to have "fertility problems" or "infertility." Go to your ob/gyn to talk and perhaps have some tests done. You may also want to go the store (grocery store, Wal-Mart/Target) and purchase a ovulation predictor - that will help you know when your most fertile time of the month is. Good luck!

Sweetie, you are still TOO young, you should be enjoying life right now that you can!! when I was 19 I had other priorities in life like finishing College and getting myself into a career in life. I got married, enjoyed my marriage for 6.5 years before even thinking about a baby, now my husband and I are very mature and career minded so we are ready for a baby. I am 10 weeks pregnant and very happy that things have turned out this way for us. Do you believe in God? I do and I believe that everything happens for a reason, if you have not gotten pregnant is because it is not the right time for you. It sounds like you might have been having something going on with you, you should see a fertility doctor and have your cycle checked. But trust me, you are still too young to be having pregnancy worries, give yourslef time!!

Yes, the problem is with you. No period=no ovulation and no ovulation=no pregnancy. You need to see your doctor for meds to make you have periods and ovulate-most likely provera or prometrium followed by clomid. You are not going to get pregnant without having a period!

Get the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility". It is so enlightening about how to recognize the signs for getting pregnant and how your body works.

Have you had a hormone test? If you haven't had your period in two months, you are lacking in a hormone. If you can't have a period, you aren't going to get pregnant either.

You need to go to a specialist. I had the same symptoms as you and thought I could not get preg. and found out I have PCOS . Once diagnosed the RE can help you become pregnant.

Wish you the best :0)
